RAMBAN, May 11: Armed Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police through IRP 9th Battalion Ramban today initiated Civic Ation Programme (CAP) in tehsil Banihal.
As part of this programme, various orphan children throughout tehsil Banihal were identified by IRP 9th Battalion. In the first step two orphanage foundations viz- Gulshan-E-Iftal and Yateem Welfare Foundation Banihal were choosen.
A programme was conducted today in Government Higher Secondary School Banihal under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abrar Chowdhary, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion.
The programme was attended by Chairman Yateem Welfare Trust Banihal Tazeem Wani and Chairman Gulshan-e-Iftal Banihal Abdul Gaffar Tantray. Nearly 90 orphan children participated in the programme alongwith their guardians and teachers.
Various dignitaries spoke on the occasion including Taazeem Wani, Abdul Gaffar Tantray, ZEO Kishori Lal, Javed Ahmed Mir and Razaq Ahmed Wani.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Abrar Chowdhary, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion highlighted the role and sacrifices of police in safeguarding the life and property of people of the State. He asserted that police is sensitive to the problems of whole society and has special feelings for the orphan children and that is why the civic action programme for orphan children is approved by police headquarters in this tehsil.
Abrar Chowdhary advised the people to take special care of the orphans, widows, specially abled and weaker sections of society. He said that J&K Police has high feelings for these sections of society and will do its best to help them out.
Chowdhary appealed the gathering to save their children from social evils like drugs and the traps of ANEs. He asked upon the members of society to nourish their children with progressive and healthy habits. He appealed to the gathering to defeat the nefarious designs of ANEs.
Beside others, those present on the occasion included Dy Commandant Surjit Bhagat SP, Deputy Commandant Suresh Kumar Chib SP, DySP Ayaz Sheikh, SDPO Banihal Dheeraj Singh Thakur, ZEO Kishori Lal, other civil and police officers and respectable persons of Banihal town and adjoining areas.
