JAMMU, June 1: In yet another success, Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ unearthed a Rajasthan-Delhi-Jammu drugs cartel with the arrested of a notorious drug peddler and a woman alongwith Pakistan smuggled heroin valuing Rs 4 lakh.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka near Panama Chowk and asked two persons including a woman to stop for checking as they de-boarded from a mini-bus on seeing police naka.
On seeing cops approaching towards them, the lady and her associate started running, but cops intercepted them after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 40 grams heroin valuing Rs 4 lakh from their possession and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jallu, son of Roshan Lal, a resident of Rajgarh Rajasthan, at present Qasim Nagar, Narwal Bala, Jammu and Ashu, wife of Shams, a resident of New Delhi.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that they had brought the Pakistan smuggled heroin from Rajasthan and used to sell it among the youth in Jammu and New Delhi to make illegitimate profits
With the arrest of these narcotics smugglers including notorious drug peddler Jallu, who was on police radar from the past sometime, police on the one hand achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts and on the other hand has started keeping hawks eye over the women indulged in illegal practices.
A case under FIR Number 127/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to arrest other members of this gang.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat and SI Kali Charan busted the drugs cartel under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
