Notorious drug peddler nabbed

RAJOURI, Aug 11: The  police today arrested a notorious drug-peddler, who was  detained in Public Safety Act last year and recovered  some quantity of heroin  from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Shakoor Ahmed  alias Shakoora,  son of Mohd Bashir, resident of  Dhani Dhar in Rajouri.
Official sources said that  the police team from Rajouri Police Station and SOG men had laid a Naka near Alpha Gate, Rajouri. During the course of checking the Police party intercepted the said person near Alpha Gate after he started to run backwards on seeing cops from some distance. After a chase he was nabbed and  during his physical search, approximately seven grams of drugs /powder apparently appearing to be heroin was recovered from his possession.
A case FIR 440/2018 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered and he has been taken into custody in Police Station Rajouri
Police said this drug-peddler is a notorious one and stands booked in a number of cases in  and around  Rajouri and was also detained under PSA last year for his repeated involvement in peddling of Narcotics and Psychotropic substances.
Police and SOG teams led by SHO Rajouri,  Tahir Khan under the supervision of DySP Ops Sukhdev Singh  arrested the  accused.
