Notorious criminal detained under PSA in Kathua

KATHUA, May 25: Police today claimed they have detained a notorious criminal under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kathua District.
Suraj Masih of Hari Chak, Marheen, was booked under the PSA after obtaining formal detention order from the District Magistrate Kathua, a police official said.
The accused, who has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur, has been facing multiple cases, he said.
According to the police official, the repeated criminal activities of the criminal were posing a serious threat to the peace in the area.
As such, the police prepared a dossier under the PSA against the criminal, which allows detention without charge or trial up to two years in some cases.
