JAMMU, Aug 26: Police today arrested a notorious chain snatcher and bike lifter from Bhagwati Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Canal Road Police Post.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Canal Road Police Post conducted raid and arrested the notorious snatcher and bike lifter from Bhagwati Nagar.
The accused was wanted in a case of chain snatching registered under FIR number 195/2008 with Police Station Nowabad, he said, adding that warrant under 512 CrPC was also issued against him.
He further informed that the accused was involved in various other cases registered with different police stations including City Police Station, Police Station Nowabad, Police Station Trikuta Nagar and Police Station Channi.
Police party led by Incharge, Police Post Canal Road SI Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Shabir Khan.
