Create sustainable, durable assets: DDC to RDD

Doda, Aug 26: Create durable and sustainable assets in rural and far flung areas of the district for grass root development and socio-economic upliftment of poor people living in these areas. This was stated by District Development Commissioner Doda, Mubarak Singh,  while reviewing the functioning of Rural Development Department’s  field functionaries at town hall today.
While addressing the field functionaries of the department, Mr. Singh underlined the need of serious efforts for the grass root strengthening of communication between Panchayati Raj Institutions and RDD which is vital for the growth and development of people living in rural and far flung areas. He said that there is need of continuous monitoring of ongoing works so that best and durable assets are created for the benefit of people within a stipulated time frame.
Mr. Singh, also directed the officers and field functionaries to give focused attention on requirements of the particular area of their jurisdiction so that need based developmental works are taken up for benefit of poor people like, preservation of water bodies, lanes & drains, check dams, rain water harvesting tanks, community ponds etc which serves the community at large.
DDC also enjoined upon the officers to redouble their efforts in implementation of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) in the district, especially in rural areas so that the benefits of the scheme percolates down to the poor and needy people. Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) is a comprehensive programme to ensure sanitation facilities in rural areas with broader goal to eradicate the practice of open defecation.
Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Rakesh Kumar, presented a detailed account of the achievements of the RDD in the District.
