Noted Dogri writer passes away

JAMMU, Nov 24: Noted Dogri writer, Santosh Khajuria, wife of retired Excise Commissioner, Late Satya Dev Khajuria and mother of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria, passed away after brief illness in Chandigarh today.
She was 87, and is survived by two sons, Gautam Khajuria and Rohit Khajuria besides others in the family.
Mrs Khajuria was a multi talented person, a Sitar player and vocalist. Her family was the pioneer of Dogri movement in J&K. Her father Late Pt Sriniwas Magotra was one of the founding members of Dogri Sanstha. She was associated with the Dogri writing since her college days.
In her contribution to the Dogri writing, she was awarded the Tagore Literary Award in 2010. She is the writer of three Dogri books namely Tricholi, Bhole Bhav and Badlondiyan Baharan. Her demise has been widely mourned by the writers, poets and others across Jammu and Kashmir.
The cremation shall take place at Jogi Gate Cremation ground, Jammu on November 25 at 12 noon.
