JAMMU, Aug 14: President Draupadi Murmu has approved the awarding of seven Sarvotam Yudh Seva Medals (SYSM), the nation’s highest wartime distinguished service honour, to the leaders of Operation Sindoor.

Among those receiving the prestigious honour are Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, who has formerly served as GOC 15 Corps.
Besides, four officers have been awarded the Kirti Chakra. They are Capt Lalrinawma Sailo Para (SF), Lt Shashank Tiwari, ASC Sikkim Scouts, L/Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A, Arty RR, and Sep Janjal Pravin Prabhakar Mahar, RR.
Similarly, the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal has been awarded to Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar of Western Command, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava of 15 Corps and Lt Gen Prasanna Kishore Mishra of 16 Corps.
The Vir Chakra has been awarded to Col Koshank Lamba of MED Regiment, Lt Col Sushil Bisht of MED BTY, Nb Subedar Satish Kumar of Dogra Regiment and Rifleman Sunil Kumar of JAK LI.
Further, the President has approved awarding Shaurya Chakra to Lt Col Neetesh Bharti Shukla of Sikh Regiment, Major Bhargav Kalita of Kumaon RR, Major Ashish Kumar of Para (SF), Major Aditya Pratap Singh, SM of Assam Rifles, Assistant Commandant Mohammad Shafiq of Assam Rifles, Sub Shamsher Singh of Para (SF), L Naik Rahul Singh of Para (SF), and Rifleman Bhoj Ram Sahu of Assam Rifles.
Likewise, the Yudh Seva Medal has been awarded to Major General Sandeep Sudarshan Sharda, ADGPI, Brig Rakesh Nair of Infantry Division, Brig Vivek Goel of AAD, Brig Surjeet Kumar Singh of INT, Brig Sonender Singh of Engineers Wing, Brig Vivek Puri of Infantry Division, Brig Mudit Mahajan of Infantry Division, Sub Vinod Kumar of AAD, and Naib Subedar Ratneswar Ghosh of AAD.
Several other officers have also been awarded various other prestigious medals.
