Northern Command chief reviews situation in Rajouri, Poonch

JAMMU, Mar 9: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi today visited forward areas along the LoC in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch and reviewed the security situation there.
During his visit to Rajouri, Bhimber Gali and Poonch sectors along the Line of Control, Lt Gen Dwivedi was briefed on the security situation by Field Commanders, Defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said. Click here to watch video
He also reviewed the development of defence infrastructure and operational preparedness undertaken despite the challenging terrain and weather conditions in the region, according to the spokesperson.
Lt Gen Dwivedi interacted with all ranks and appreciated the professionalism and operational response towards the evolving threat matrix, the spokesperson said.
He also commended all ranks for their dedication and complimented the soldiers for their relentless efforts in pursuit of peace and stability along with assisting the local population, Lt Col Anand said
The Army Commander is reported to have reviewed the ceasefire situation in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Ceasefire between Indo-Pak troops had completed one year last month and there have been no reports of any major violations though the militants continued to make attempts to infiltrate which were foiled by the Indian troops.
The Army officers briefed the Northern Commander about prevailing situation along the LoC in two districts.
It may be mentioned here that after taking over as the Northern Command chief, Lt Gen Dwivedi has been visiting forward and other areas. He had visited Kashmir valley, Eastern Ladakh, Nagrota Corps and other areas under control of the Northern Command.
