SRINAGAR, Mar 5: Northern Army Commander, Lt General Ranbir Singh, today asked the troops along the Line of Control (LoC) to remain vigilant and foil any attempts of infiltration from Pakistan.
Accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General KJS Dhillon, the Army Commander visited the forward areas in Kupwara and Baramulla and reviewed the situation along the LoC. He also visit Army formations in Kupwara and Baramulla districts to review counter-militancy operations.
The Army Commander was briefed by the Commanders on ground as regards the Counter Infiltration Grid and operational preparedness of the formations. He was told that despite winter and closure of mountain passes due to heavy snowfall, the Army is alert along the LoC to foil infiltration attempts. He was told that regular patrols are conducted along the LoC and in the nearby areas to put pressure on infiltrators.
He was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations to meet the prevailing and future challenges.
Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said that during his interaction with the troops, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh lauded their professionalism, sharp vigil along the Line of Control and high morale while exhorting them to remain alert and fully prepared for all eventualities.
