JAMMU, Apr 20: A nomad was arrested for killing national bird- peacock in Billawar area of district Kathua today.
Reports said the incident took place near village Beri Ghat in Billawar today. Two nomad brothers namely, Yaqoob and Nurani, sons of Lal Din (Bakerwal), allegedly killed peacock in the forest area of Beri Ghat in Billawar. The locals of the area taking serious note of it, reported the matter to police and also to the Wild Life Department.
Meanwhile, the police seized the bird and handed it over to Wild Life Department and registered a case against the accused brothers. While Yaqoob has been arrested by police, his brother Noorani fled away towards nearby forest. The police party was searching for him.
