JAMMU, June 14: The irate residents and pilgrims who visited the holy shrine of Purmandal on the occasion of Dashhar today held a demonstration against the authorities for their failure in restoring water supply in Shiv Temple Purmandal which is facing water scarcity for last fortnight.
The protesters raised slogans against PHE Department for its failure in restoration of water supply in Purmandal and Shiv Temple which has added to the problems of both residents and pilgrims.
They said that devotees need water to pour in sacred “Shiv Kund” to have the blessing of Bholenath and due to the failure of authorities to restore water supply people have been put to hardships.
They said that there is also shortage of drinking water in the area and accused PHE Department of trying to shift responsibility and blamed the non availability of sufficient funds to replace old infrastructure including main motor and pump set which was installed 30 years ago. They said when Government is claiming to boost tourism in the area, such issues are slated to harm the existing tourist infrastructure.
