JAMMU, Jan 9: The State Government today said that there was no proposal to roll back price hike in ration.
“Presently there is no proposal with the State Government to roll back price hike, because the Government is not financially sound to meet extra expenditure which is being incurred for procurement of foodgrains from Food Corporation of India being provided to Non Priority Household beneficiaries,” CAPD Minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali in a written reply said.
The Minister replied to a question asked by MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora seeking details on enhanced ration rates and roll back of price hike. “The rate of rice as well as flour has been increased from Rs 10 to 15 and Rs 8 to 13 respectively from October 1, 2016,” the Minister replied.
He further said that the increase had been made in case of Non Priority Household population for the ration being provided under NFSA/Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Schemes.
