No repair of bandh on Devak-Basanter: Manjit

VIJAYPUR, Sept 23: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed Government to provide relief and compensation to the poor farmers who have been hit with flash floods last evening in Vijaypur following heavy rains.
Mr Singh, a PCC general secretary conducted tour of the flood- affected villages in Vijaypur along the International Border where a bandh got damaged three years back during heavy rains and flash floods in Basanter-Devak rivers. He met farmers who were affected with the flash floods and assured them that their demands would be projected before the concerned authorities.
The PCC leader  said the administration has turned deaf ears towards the suffering of the farmers and doing nothing for them.“Yesterday heavy rain triggered flash flood in Devak-Basanter rivers following which flood waters entered into the fields causing extensive damage,” Mr Singh said.
He claimed that the fodder kept for the cattle has also been damaged in the flash floods forcing farmers to face starvation like situation for themselves and their cattle.  He said the previous MLA Vijaypur and sitting MLA Vijaypur, both are not concerned with the suffering of the poor people and moreover, the administration has not been moved.
He hoped that their demands would be accepted the flood affected people would be provided relief/compensation for the losses they have suffered in yesterday’s flash floods.
