No question mark on Govt’s stability : Munda

RANCHI, Dec 26: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today said there was no “question mark” on the issue of his government’s stability in the face of ruling alliance partner JMM mounting pressure on the BJP to make its stand clear on a ‘power-sharing formula’ that the two allies purportedly struck before forming the government.
“There is no question mark on the stability of the government. Whatever issues are there should be raised in the Coordination Committee of the coalition government,” Munda, who went to attend the swearing in ceremony of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, said over phone.
He was reacting to newspaper reports saying the JMM had served an ultimatum to his government on a seat sharing formula.
Munda, however, said his deputy Hemant Soren yesterday met him and gave a letter comprising certain issues in which the JMM leader had mentioned about the power sharing formula of sharing power.
“All the issues will be discussed in the coordination committee meeting. The meeting is tentatively scheduled on December 29,” he added.
Munda said his priority was to place his government’s request for according special status to Jharkhand at the National Development Council meeting, scheduled in Delhi, for the state’s economic development.
Soren today refused to interact with the media after delivering his letter to Munda.
The JMM has already issued a press release on convening of two meetings of the party on January 6 and 10 to “discuss and take a decision” on the “prevailing political situation”.
Munda had on September 11, 2010 formed the government with the JMM, the AJSU and the Janata Dal (U).
On September 10, 2010, JMM Supremo Shibu Soren had on his return from Delhi told media at the Birsa Munda Airport that there was a power sharing formula. He revived the demand since May this year. (PTI)
