JAMMU, Dec 8: Dr Agnishekhar a well known poet and writer has appealed the intellectuals to counter the false and baseless myth created by some socalled historians and writers from Valley about the mystic poetess and great Shiv Yogi of medieval Kashmir Laleshwari (Lal Ded).
During a meeting here, today with some poets and intellectuals of the State, Dr Agnishekhar expressed his grave concern over the distortion of history by some so called writers and intellectuals of Kashmir Valley and said that this way they are trying to erase the names of great Hindu philosophers, mystic poets and historians who have made an immense contribution to aesthetics of Kashmir and India.
Dr Agnishekhar who is also convener of Panun Kashmir an organization fighting for separate homeland for seven lakh Kashmiri Pandits said that it was this mindset of some fundamentalists and separatist elements who were responsible for genocide of minority Hindus from Valley and now were trying to distort the history of Kashmir by berating the contributions of great Hindu scholars, Kings, warriors and saints of Kashmir.
Terming this a dangerous trend, Dr Agnishekhar who is giving special Lal Ded Memorial Lecture on December 12 at Abhinav theatre here organised by Prasar Bharti said it is duty of all of us to put the things straight about the ancient and medieval history of Kashmir to counter the false propaganda of the socalled intellectuals and historians propounding the Pak sponsored theory to distort history of Kashmir.
