JAMMU, Mar 18: Chief patron of National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh has alleged that State Administration has totally failed to provide basic amenities to the public.
Prof Singh who travelled most of the areas of Jammu region from March 9 to 17 told the media-persons here today that no governance has been witnessed in most of the areas. There is no ration available in the rural areas for the past three-four months. Government has stopped supplying of ration from its depots. People are purchasing ration from open market at exorbitant rates and there is no price control. People are getting Atta at the rate of Rs 22 per kg. Majority of the people in rural areas are literally starving for food grains.
The NPP leader further alleged that there is very less teaching staff in many schools. Almost all schools are short of teachers up to 50 per cent. There are no adequate number of doctors available in village dispensaries besides para-medical staff. There are no medicines available. It is chaotic situation in the villages.
Bhim Singh said that there is shortage of drinking water and the water that is used by the villagers is not worth drinking. There is danger that epidemic may spread in the rural areas. There is no proper power supply in the villages. Most of the villages remain without power supply for weeks and months. Damaged transformers are not replaced even after months.
He alleged that most of the roads have been washed off. A survey reveals that the roads were built by the contractors who were sponsored by the politicians. They built roads in violation of the rules and parameters. Regular accidents on these roads established the fact that the roads were built in violation of the rules and contract conditions.
Bhim Singh alleged that there is total anarchy in the rural areas and the people in the villages are living a life of jungle with no social security, no medical assistance and no rule of the administration to provide social security, medical care or protection to the wretched of the earth living in the villages, the real seedlings of democracy. There is no governance in the State and it is essential to dissolve the Assembly and hold fresh elections.
