No flood relief to employees, political persons residing in Govt quarters

Srinagar, June 11: Government today admitted that no relief was provided to the flood hit employees and political persons who were residing in the residential quarters under possession of Government as they did not come under SDRF norms.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Mubarak Gul in the Lower House, Minister Incharge Relief and Rehabilitation stated that it is a fact that some residential quarters under possession of Government employees and political persons were affected due to floods of September 2014 and the belongings of the inmates were also damaged.
“However no relief was paid for the damaged belongings of inmates as there is no provision for relief as per SDRF norms for the damage of belongings affected by any calamity,” the Minister stated.
The Minister further stated that as reported by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar relief has been disbursed to the affected 3742 Dokawalas as per SDRF norms at Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2300 in respect of fully and severely damaged Dokawalas.
The matter was also taken up with the National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India for providing financial assistance under PMNRF to these Dokawalas and the matter is under examination by National Disaster Management Authority, said the Minister.
