Govt examining possibility of constructing 3rd phase of Baglihar

Srinagar, June 11: Government today said it was examining the possibilities of constructing 3rd phase of Baglihar Hydro Electric Project in the State.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Neelam Kumar Lengeh in Lower House, Minister Incharge Power stated that the possibility of constructing 3rd phase of Baglihar Hydro Electric Project is being examined by J&K State Power Development Corporation.
The Minister also stated that there is no delay in execution of Sawalakote HEP. “The capacity of the project approved by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is 1856 MW and not 900 MW and the project is at an advanced stage of appraisal with Central Electricity Authority,” the Minister stated.
“12 MW HEP has been identified at Bharamdhar- Malwah (Dessa Nallah) and is under survey and investigation. But, it’s not feasible to have a mini hydel project on Ragarh Nallah due to insufficient discharge,” added the Power Ministry.
