According to official sources the transformer has been taken to a workshop and it will not take less than a fortnight in repairs and till that time the people have to face the power curtailments.
The sources said that the transformer can’t be repaired in the grid station and it is to be taken to workshop where after renovation it will be put on proper testing before installation at Grid Station Janipur. However the repairing will take at least 15 days, he added.
The people in Janipur, New Plots and other adjoining localities are facing acute power crisis for last one week after the transformer developed the snag. This has also resulted into a lot of public outcry in these localities with people up in arms against the PDD for its failure in restoring the transformer on war footing basis.
Criticizing the PDD the residents of the area said it is unfortunate that people in 21st century are facing the power crisis and the authorities have failed to restore the transformer during last one week. They said during these chilly days of winter power is needed most by the people for lighting and heating purpose to beat the cold.
“We have been put to many hardships due to power curtailments as electricity makes a hide and seek for last one week in the area”, said Shakuntala Devi a house wife in New Plots.
She said that student community whose exams are drawing near are also worst sufferers of power crisis as they can’t read in darkness.
Same were the views of Ramesh Singh of Janipur. While criticizing the PDD he said why the Department has not kept one transformer stand by at the Grid Station to use it during such emergencies.
He made an appeal to Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh who is also incharge of Power Ministry to look into the matter and relieve the people of the problems.
