No end to condolence messages on SDR’s demise

JAMMU, July 11: As death of the Editor –in- Chief, Printer, Publisher and Owner of Daily Excelsior is being widely mourned by readers and well wishers of their favourite news paper, a large number of condolence messages continue to reach this office daily from leaders of political parties, social organizations, intellectuals, trade union leaders, journalists etc.
Former Sadar-e-Riyasat and MP, Dr Karan Singh has also expressed his grief and sorrow over the sudden and untimely demise of Mr Rohmetra. In his condolence message to family of Mr Rohmetra, Dr Karan Singh said that he was deeply grieved after learning about the demise of Mr Rohmetra. Dr Singh said that he knew SDR over a half century and “I always impressed by his patriotism, his clear thinking and effective articulation’’. He also expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family.
R K Mattoo former Resident Editor Indian Express Bangalore and a renowned journalist has also expressed his shock and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra. In his condolence message Mr Mattoo said the State has lost a veteran journalist who always maintained the high standards of professionalism and dedicated his entire life for promotion of English journalism in J&K.
He said Mr Rohmetra’s contributions will be inspirations to budding journalists and go a long way in the history of journalism in the State and country.
To express their sympathy with Excelsior a team of Bar Association led by its president B S Slathia visited the office of Daily Excelsior today and expressed their sympathies with the Kamal Rohmetra and Neeraj Rohmetra on the sudden demise of SDR.
The Bar team recalled the services of veteran journalist to the State and said that Mr Rohmetra was a bold and fearless journalist who worked with impartiality throughout his career. Maintaining that Daily Excelsior is synonymous with SDR, they said his contributions to the field of journalism in general and promotion of English journalism in J&K in particular will go down in golden letters in the history of journalism.
BJP National Executive member, Dr Nirmal Singh also visited Excelsior today to convey his condolences to Kamal Rohmetra,  Neeraj Rohmetra and other staff members over the sudden demise of SDR. He while conveying the condolences to Excelsior team termed SDR a veteran and bold journalist who championed the cause of the people of the State. He said Mr Rohmetra never hesitated in unfolding the truth and always took the cause of oppressed and suppressed people. For his services to field of journalism he will be always remembered, he added.
All Displaced PDD Employees Forum Jammu has also expressed profound grief and shock over the demise of SDR and recalled his services in the field of journalism.
The Forum president M K Tickoo termed Mr Rohmetra a veteran journalist and a nationalist by core.
A condolence meeting was held at Batote under the chairmanship of Bej Nath Bhagat, Ex chief Cameraman Film Division Government of India in which the other prominent citizens of Batote participated to condole the demise of Mr Rohmetra. The meeting observed two minutes silence as mark of respect to departed soul. It termed Mr Rohmetra an icon of journalism in the State who always maintained the high standards of journalism and stood with the needy and poor people of the State. The meeting also expressed its sympathy with the bereaved family.
Jammu & Kashmir Ladakh All Department Clerical Staff Association held a condolence meeting today to mourn the sad demise of SDR. The meeting, was chaired by Babu Hussain Malik, senior vice president of the Association. Describing Mr Rohmetra a great visionary the members of the Association prayed to Almighty to grant peace to departed soul and courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Pardeep Kaul a freelancer has expressed his profound shock and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra. In his condolence message he said apart from pioneering media baron SDR was one of the few persons who exuded great charm and grace. Known for his humility and humane qualities Mr Rohmetra made always it a point to ensure that his employees are well and timely paid, he added.
He said in the demise of SDR he has lost a doting father figure. Mr Kaul prayed Lord Shiva for the eternal peace of Mr Rohmetra. He also expressed the hope that Kamal Rohmetra and  Neeraj Rohmetra with their intelligence and qualities inherited from their great father will strive hard to take this paper to new heights.
Rukhsana of Farooq Abdullah News Agency, Lal Chowk Srinagar, has expressed her grief and shock over the sudden and untimely demise of Mr Rohmetra. In her condolence message Mrs Rukhsana termed Mr Rohmetra an epitome of humanity, humility and generosity. She said SDR has decades old relations with Abdullah News Agency. Terming Mr Rohmetra a great Karamyogi she prayed Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
J&K Batwal Welfare Association has also expressed its profound grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of SDR and termed his demise a great loss to the society. The Association expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family.
It also prayed almighty to grant peace to departed soul. The Association also recalled his contribution in the field of journalism. The meeting said the people of the State will miss SDR as an amazing writer and editor of high quality.
The meeting among others was attended by Lt Col (retd) Manohar Lal Kaith, Sat Paul Lakhotra (ex MLA), R L Kaith, Dr Ramesh Kaith and Capt, (retd) Raj Kumar Kaith.
Vikas Gupta, joint secretary and members of J&K Judo Association in a meeting today under the chairmanship of R C Thakur secretary, J&K Judo Association condoled the demise of Mr Rohmetra.  The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Jatin Manhas district general secretary Seva Dal Unit Doda has expressed his sorrow and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra a pioneer in journalism.
In his condolence message he said in SDR’s demise state has lost one of the great journalists who has done unflinching service in the field. He expressed deepest sympathy with the bereaved family.
Shiv Shakti Mandir Sanstha Sector 1, Pamposh Colony Janipur in a condolence meeting today expressed profound grief and shock over the sad and untimely demise of Mr Rohmetra and veteran KP leader A N Vaishnavi.
The meeting recalled the services of the duo in their respective fields and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls. It said Mr Rohmetra was a dedicated and veteran journalist and it was because of his dedication and pioneering role that Daily Excelsior excelled day by day.
Aditiya Hans, Domana Incharge JKNPP has also expressed his shock over the demise of Mr. Rohmetra.
