‘No Confidence Motion’ against President, VP of Akhnoor MC

AKHNOOR, Oct 20: Eight Councilors of BJP-led Municipal Committee Akhnoor moved a no-confidence motion against the incumbent municipal President and Vice president for their alleged non-satisfactory performance and for unruly behaviour. The MC Akhnoor has a total number of 13 wards and all 13 are ruled by BJP Councillors.
Today morning, Karan Singh Councillor Ward number 3 and Baldev Raj Councillor Ward number 4 reached office Complex of Municipal Committee Akhnoor to present `No Confidence Motion’ which was signed by 8 Councillors among house of total 13. They submitted the copy addressed to the President in his office and presented the copy to Executive Officer Akhnoor.
While speaking to the media persons Karan Singh Councillor Ward No 3 levelled serious allegations against the President Surinder Sharma and Amita Gupta for ignoring the rest of Councillors in decision making. He further alleged that drainage and lanes of Akhnoor town are yet undeveloped which is a serious concern. He alleged that the President and Vice President has failed to deliver as per people’s aspirations because of which they both have lost the confidence of the majority in Municipal Committee, Akhnoor.
Baldev Raj, Councillor Ward Number 4 also reacted on the issue and said that it was decided unanimously by the House that charge of President and Vice President of MC Akhnoor will be given to all and in same pattern the well delivering President Depesh Singh was replaced by Surinder Sharma but after completing 1year as committed in house he is not resigning from his post. He allege that President Surinder Sharma have even served for 18 months and still he is not resigning from the post which is against the decision taken by all Councillors as well as BJP. He said that under Surinder Sharma and Amita Gupta old Akhnoor town has been neglected because most of the Councillors were of outer area. He said we are facing anguish of public for not performing as per promises and lane drain of town is very poor. He said President Surinder Sharma should immediately step down and new person should be given chance who should take all councillors in favor for taking decisions. He further claimed that they have majority and they will be successful in passing no confidence against sitting President and Vice President.
The no confidence motion was duly signed by Councillors- Rashmi Kumari of W No. 1, Karan Singh of W No. 3, Balder Raj of W No. 4, Shilpa Mahajan of W No 5, Rakesh Malhotra of W No 6, Deepak Manni of W No 10, Depesh Singh of Ward 11 and Kuldeep Kumar of Ward 12.
