NMOPS- J&K protests for restoration of Old Pension Scheme

JAMMU, Dec 30: National Movement for Old Pension Scheme Jammu and Kashmir(NMOPS-J&K), an Amalgam of workers associations, today held a peaceful protest at Press Club Jammu seeking restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
The protest demonstration was led by NMOPS- J&K President, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, who said that the new Pension Scheme does not provide the guarantee of minimum pension and is not in the welfare of employees and their family members.
He requested the LG administration to consider their demand on priority basis as this NPS scheme is totally against the employees and a grave injustice and threat for their future.
While addressing the gathering, UT senior vice president and chairman JKATA, Vishal Manhas appealed Govt to scrap New Pension Scheme (NPS) and restore Old Pension Scheme so that sense of belongingness could prevail among Govt employees appointed after January 1, 2010.
Keeping the flaws and drawbacks of NPS in mind, the Government employees throughout the country are demanding restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) with an aim to secure their post retirement life.
Various Trade union leaders, who took part in the protest demonstration, included Ganesh Khajuria, Chairman J&K Teachers Forum (JKTF); Sachin Tickoo, president J&K Electrical Engineers Gazzeted Association(JKEEGA); Yasir Tak, president J&K Agriculture Technocrats Association (JKATA) and chief spokes person Nmaps; Satyarth Gupta (NRMU), Gurcharan Singh, Provincial president Non Gazzeted Forest Officers Association (NGFOA), Sandeep Kohli, Provincial president All J&K Patwar Association (AJ&KPA), Arun Sharma (GMCHJ), Ravi Randhawa, president Local Urban Bodies,; T Arun Gupta, provincial president Young JKPDDEU; David Sandhu, vice president ABSMS; Parshottam Singh, president Shrine Board Employees Association Katra (SBEA); Harpreet Kaur, president Female Wing JKNMOPS.
Surat Singh Tufani, JA Aga, Darshan Sharma, Kuldeeb Bandral, Bashir Thakur, Ashwani Raina, Deepak Sharma, Raman Sharma, Neetan Kalyan, Syed Muneer Hussain, Mohammad Hussain, Ramkrishan Thakur, Mohan Singh, Jalil Sheikh, Muntazir Khalid, Manshad Iqbol, Jai Krishan Vashista, Pt Ramesh Shashtri, Syed Nusrat Shah and others were also present in the protest.
