JAMMU, Apr 17: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include Rs 7000 crore more as an additional grant in the announced financial package to meet the expenditure on accounts of absorption and regularization of nearly 60,000 daily rated workers of the State and implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations.
Addressing a press conference, NMC President Subash Shastri reminded Narendra Modi and BJP brass to fulfill their commitment and assurances which they had promised in manifesto, adding that Modi is the only leader capable of resolving these two major long awaited issues to steer BJP boat in the coming civic election which is going to be held in near future as the same is to be projected as a major issues in these election.
Shastri also appealed Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister to expedite the noble cause of absorption of these daily rated workers besides provision of additional funds when the recommendations of the 7th pay commission are implemented.
Stressing on the need to include Jammu and Srinagar cities in the list of proposed 100 smart cities, Shastri pointed out that including these two cities in the list of 100 smart cities of the country would ensure more flow of funds to upgrade modernized civic amenities in these cities.
He also called upon the Chief Minister to formulate policy in which DA installment are released in favor of employees and pensioners simultaneously with Central Government employees. He demanded an early release of another pending installment of DA due from January this year as the Central as well as several State Governments have already released it in favor its employees and pensioners.
Shastri also demanded release of pending wages of daily rated workers working in PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PHE and PDD beside enhancing the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 10,000 per month, removing of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre under the SRO 93 and increasing the medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month.
Among others present were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Surinder Kumar, Subhash Sharma, Kuldeep Sharma, Sukhdev Singh, etc.
