JAMMU, Mar 8: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has reiterated the demand of revocation of decision regarding freezing of Dearness Allowance (DA) of Central, States and UT employees and pensioners till June 2021.
In a memorandum to the Prime Minister, NMC president, Subash Shastri today appealed for reconsidering the decision regarding the DA and claimed that DA is additional financial assistance to cope up the burden of day-to-day rising prices of essential commodities and COVID-19 pandemic.
Stressing on the challenges being faced by the Government employees and pensioners due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Shastri pointed out that the salaried class of the country was at forefront of battle against COVID-19 risking its life while rendering services to the nation and at that point of time freezing of DA will severely impact this class and pensioners.
He demanded an early release of three installments of 4, 5 and 4% DA due from January and July 2020 and January this year to Central, State and UT employees and pensioners.
Shastri also demanded setting up Labour Welfare Board and enhancement of medial allowances of pensioners to Rs. 1000 per month besides regularization of services of thousands of daily rated workers working in various departments and enhancing minimum wages of daily rated workers to Rs. 18,000 per month.
