Police XI, Young Rovers FC script wins in Football C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 8: J&K Police XI and Young Rovers FC trounced J&K Bank Academy and NGR FC by 2-0 and 2-1 goals respectively in the ongoing 28th Annual Football Championship, being played at GGM Science College Ground, here today.
Two pre quarter-finals matches were played today between J&K Police-XI and J&K Bank Academy & NGR FC and Young Rovers FC.
The first pre quarter-final match proved to be an exciting and thrilling match as J&K Police XI opened its account in very first minute of the game against J&K Bank Academy. However, J&K Bank Academy’s boys tried their hard to equalise the game but unfortunately could not succeeded, whereas Police-XI again netted one more goal in 84th minute of the game and scripted excellent win over the J&K Bank Academy by 2-0 goals.
The 2nd match of the tournament was played between NGR FC and Young Rovers FC. Both teams displayed quality Football. In the 30th minute of the 1st half, Young Rover FC scored its 1st goal while doubled its lead in the 78th minutes of the game, whereas the opponent NGR FC scored single goal during the match and lost the match by 2-1 goals.
Moon Stephen, former national footballer was the chief guest on the occasion and introduced both the teams’ players. The tournament is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) with the help of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
