JAMMU, May 5: President of National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri today appealed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javdekar to intervene into the most important and sensitive issue of working journalists who are frontline warriors and are playing extraordinary role in these hard days.
In two separate memorandums sent to the Prime Minister and Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shastri demanded compensation of Rs. one crore to those who have sacrificed their lives while discharging duty for the country and also demanded relief from all the State and UT Governments for the journalists and their families.
Shastri further said that the fourth pillar of Indian democracy is on job, putting their lives at risk like other COVID-19 warriors.
He said that the compensation should be for all journalists-accredited or non-accredited because all journalists are working equally day and night in the times of pandemic.
