NMC appeals PM to release pending installment of DA

JAMMU, July 3: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed Prime Minister to release pending installment of 7 per cent DA due from July 1, 2014 in favour of the employees and pensioners of Central as well as the State Government in view of increasing prices of the essential commodities.
In a memorandum sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shastri while said that prices of all essential commodities are rising considerably, there was no justification on the part of the Government for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners.
Shastri urged Modi to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 city of State as this status would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructure and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities.
He also demanded special package of Rs 5000 crore to the State to meet the expenditure on regularization of casual, need base, seasonal labourers, adhoc and contractual workers in the various departments of the State Government and Public Sector Undertakings, grant of 20 per cent interim relief in favour of both Central and State Government employees and pensioners, raising the Income Tax exemption limit to Rs 5 lakh for salaried class and merger of 50 per cent DA into basic pay/pension.
