NIT Srinagar student gets placed with record package of Rs 72 lakh per annum

SRINAGAR, June 1: A student from Computer Science and Engineering Department of prestigious NIT Srinagar has been placed with a US Firm with a record package of 1,20,000 USD per annum.
Tanay Abhra (Enrollment 455/11) got placed in Epic Systems, USA with a package of 1,20,000 USD per annum (Approx 72 lakh rupees) and also in Works Application Japan with a package of 6 million Yen (Approx. 32 lakh rupees).
This is the highest offer that a student from Computer Science & Engineering Department, NIT Srinagar has received till date. The campus placement for the department has been 100% over the past few years. Considering the Department of Computer Science & Engineering is new and established only in 2007, the placement percentage has been phenomenal with students securing more than one job on many occasions.
The first batch passed out in 2011, and this year the fifth batch of Computer Science and Engineering students will pass out with over 100% placement record. Companies like ONGC, Wipro, TCS, Samsung, Aricent, Oracle, Finisar Malaysia etc have been recruiting students regularly from the Computer Science & Engineering Department.
Prof Rajat Gupta, the Director of the institute said, “It is a matter of pleasure and happiness that our students have been placed well especially Tanay Abhra, who is placed in USA with a good package. It has been my endeavor to provide quality education in the institute and we have introduced 4 new M Tech programmes and two more will be offered from July 2015”.
