This is to bring in the notice of the concerned that some students have been given admissions for M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (ITMM) under sponsored category in NIT Srinagar through unlawful means. The only criterion to get an admission in M.Tech in any NIT in India is to qualify GATE examination, but in NIT Srinagar some Kashmiri candidates who have some footing with the college officials get admissions under sponsored category without having the valid GATE score but fake sponsorship certificates. The issue needs to be probed by the concerned departments.
