Nirmal chairs 5th annual meet of JKSSWB

JAMMU, Dec 9: Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir State Social Welfare Board (JKSSWB), Dr. Nirmal Gupta today  chaired the fifth Annual Board meeting of recently constituted governing body and Executive Committee of the Board.
Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sanjeev Verma was present in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, Chairperson gave an overview of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by the Social Welfare Board in the State. She also stressed that more such schemes can be introduced through the Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) so that benefits could trickle down to deserving ones.
With regard to skill development programmes, she desired that CSWB should divert such schemes to the State Social Welfare Board along with revival of Awareness Generation Programmes to make the mission of raising level of BPL to APL, more meaningful and realistic.
Threadbare discussions were held regarding various issues including Creche Programme, Family counseling Centres, Liabilities under Awareness Generation Programmes, Erstwhile Welfare Extension Projects, replacement of vehicles, etc. It was informed that CSWB has sanctioned Rs1.89 crore for 446 decentralized crèche centres out of which 75 percent of funds to the tune of Rs 1.31 crore have already been released by JKSSWB for the current financial year. In addition to this, the Board has also sanctioned an amount of Rs 10.24 lakh for 4 decentralized Family Counseling Centres, out of which first installment of Rs. 3.84 lakh has already been released. The CSWB has also sanctioned an amount of Rs. 66.56 lakh for Centralized Family Counseling Centres.
