NILM awares over 2100 people about traffic rules

JAMMU, July 11: National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM), a Non Government Organization, educated more than 2100 persons in Jammu city about traffic rules during a 3-day traffic awareness drive, which concluded today.
The drive was organized in collaboration of J&K Police and Mini Bus Association and was conducted under the supervision of NILM chairman, Thakur KD Kurhan.
Speaking with media persons, Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director, NILM, Jammu said, “The motive behind traffic awareness drive was to check and control rising road accidents which occur due to our negligence”.
“Imposing fine on violators of traffic rules is not only solution to control these accidents; to check accidents, we must follow traffic rules”, he added.
Chairman, NILM, informed the media personnel that more than 2100 persons were educated by their NGO workers in different parts of Jammu city including Pacca Danga, Parade, Bus Stand, Janipur, Roop Nagar and Vikram Chowk about traffic rules.
Vishal Sharma, Deputy Secretary, NILM, said that they are receiving a positive response from the general public and people are supporting them by listening to volunteers.
NGO officials who were engaged in the traffic awareness drive campaigning include Bansi Lal (AO), Sunny Kapahi (SDO), Preeti Bajaj (SDO) and Naresh Kumar (field assistant) besides volunteers.
