Srinagar, Dec 2: The night temperature across Kashmir dropped by several notches today with Leh being the coldest place recording at minimum of minus 9.1 degree Celsius while weatherman has forecast dry weather for next 24 hours.
Kargil town recorded the minimum temperature at minus 5.6 degree Celsius. Srinagar, had a low of minus 2 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg in North Kashmir dropped to minus 2.4 degree Celsius. Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.6 degree Celsius.
Kupwara in North Kashmir recorded the minimum temperature at minus 3 degree Celsius, while in Kokernag town in South it was 1 degree Celsius.
Qazigund, which recorded the minimum at 1 degree Celsius, was the only place in the State where the night temperature increased as against yesterday’s.
The minimum temperature in Jammu city was also a degree above normal at 10 degree Celsius. Katra recorded 11.3 degree Celsius, Batote 8.5 degree Celsius, Banihal 9 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 4.2 degree Celsius as the lowest night temperature.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 14.7 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time the year is 11degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 17.2 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 12.5 degree Celsius, Kupwara 14.7 degree Celsius, Gulmarg 7 degree Celsius, Leh 10 degree Celsius and Kargil 6.8 degree Celsius.
The day temperatures in Jammu city was recorded at 24.2 degree Celsius, while it was 22.2 degree Celsius in Katra town, 20 degree Celsius in Batote, 17. 9 degree Celsius in Banihal and 19.3 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah town.
The weatherman said dry weather conditions will prevail in the State over the week ahead.
