JAMMU, Aug 22: National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology – NIELIT Srinagar/Jammu, earlier known as DOEACC, is going to set up its Sub-Centre of NIELIT Srinagar at Leh, Ladakh.
The centre will be funded by DEITY, Government of India. In this regard, an agreement was signed today at Leh between Dr Ashwini Kumar, Managing Director NIELIT and Mohd Shafi Lassu, Executive Councilor Higher Education, Ladakh Hill Development Council Leh.
On this occasion MD NIELIT briefed about the activities of NIELIT at the national level with regard to Capacity Building and Skill Development in IECT. A H Moon, Director NIELIT Srinagar/Jammu gave a Power Point presentation on the activities of NIELIT J&K and objectives of the proposed facilities to be developed at Leh. The meeting was also attended by Murup, Addl Deputy Commissioner Leh, Zamiyang, Technical Director NIC, Principals of Govt. Polytechnic & ITI and representative of District Social Welfare Officer Leh.
The NIELIT Sub Centre Leh shall commence its activities form October 2, 2013. It will take up capacity building and Skill Development of Government employees, Defense personnel, general students, professionals, house wives so as to bring in IT literacy in this region. The training programs have been designed to achieve the target of at least one IT literate person per family in a span of 5 years in line with the policy of Government of India.
