Nickel futures surge 0.58% on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Aug 28:  Nickel prices gained 0.58 per cent to Rs 671.50 per kg in the futures market today as traders strengthened positions amid rising spot demand.
However, metal’s weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME), capped the gains.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September month contracts was up by Rs 3.90, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 671.50 per kg in a business turnover of 371 lots.
The metal for delivery in August rose Rs 3.30, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 663.30 per kg in 638 lots.
Analysts said apart from increased domestic demand from domestic alloy-makers mainly influenced nickel prices at futures trade but metal’s losses at the LME, capped the gains.
In the international market, nickel slid 0.2 per cent at the LME. (PTI)
