Nickel futures rise as demand picks up

NEW DELHI, Apr 18: Nickel prices gained 0.11 per cent to Rs 940.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up positions, supported by rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market even as the metal weakened overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in May moved up by Re 1, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 940.10 per kg, in a business turnover of 135 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in April traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 937.50 per kg in a business turnover of 1,105 lots.
Analysts said, speculators enlarged positions on a firming trend at the domestic spot markets on better demand from consuming industries, but weakness in the metal overseas, capped the gains in nickel prices. (PTI)
