Niaz leads Cong protest over power, road condition in Gandoh

DODA, July 2: Congress activists today held strong protest demonstration for the worst condition of Thathri-Gandoh-Kilotran road, power crisis and shortage of ration in Gandoh Sub Division.
Led by former minister and senior PCC leader Mohd Shrief Niaz, a large number of members from Block Congress Committee  assembled at Gandoh Sub Divisional headquarters today and held a meeting. The members projected various issues pertaining to shortage of essential commodities, absenteeism in schools, hospitals and other offices, shortage of staff, worst condition of road, non-payment of NREGA works to the labourers, shortage of ration in the entire area.
Later, the Congress workers also  took out protest march in the town against the administration. They were shouting slogans against the administration and also in support of their demands.
Niaz alleged that condition of 40 kms Thathri- Kilotran road on which the work was started during 1960 was still in worst condition. He said there are large potholes created on the entire road and concerned agency R&B is least bothered about its maintenance and upkeep. Even many link roads were in dilapidated condition. The power supply position was also grim and water supply to many villages has turned defunct. People were facing crisis due to non-supply of adequate ration and kerosene oil  and moreover, there was shortage of staff in schools and hospitals.
Niaz alleged that some people have withdrawn huge money as loan fraudulently from Cooperative Bank at Gandoh on the names of others  and matter has come to his notice after some innocent people approached him. He demanded inquiry into the matter and action against the insiders in the bank and illegal beneficiaries.
Former minister threatened the District Administration to lunch massive protest in future if the genuine demands of poor people of this area not fulfilled.
Prominent among those who joined protest Block president Congress Om Parkash Parhiar, Nadeem Niaz, Younis Malik, Shahnawaz Sheikh and  Fayaz Ahmed.
