NIA raids in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Sept 22: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), today conducted raids at several places in Kashmir valley in militancy funding and drug trafficking cases and seized incriminating documents.
The NIA sleuths assisted by Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Baramulla districts today.
The NIA said raids were conducted in connection with Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naveed Babu case (RC-01/2020/NIA/JMU) and cross-border trade case (RC-17/2016/NIA/JMU).
In Hizbul Mujahideen case, houses of close associates of accused Tariq Mir, resident of Maldera, Shopian, who was arrested by NIA on in April this year for his role in smuggling and supply of weapons to HM militants, were searched.
Those whose houses were raided are Azad Ahmad Pir, resident of Dardkote, Uri, Haleema Begum resident of Boniyar, Baramulla, Shaheen Lone resident of Kanspora, Baramulla, working as an Inspector in Power Development Department. His father- in-law’s house at Waza Mohalla, Palhalan, Baramulla, was also searched. The house of Shareen Bibi wife of accused Tariq Mir resident of Chinad, Baramulla and Tafazul Parimoo, resident of Rehmatabad, Hyderpora, Budgam were also searched. The accused Mir was former BJP Sarpanch.
The NIA said that several incriminating documents and digital devices have been seized during these searches.
The case (registered on 11.01.2020) was registered against two HM militants – Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmad Rather -were arrested along with now-suspended DSP Devender Singh and one Irfan Shafi Mir alias Advocate by Police at Al-Stop Naka in Qazigund area of Kulgam district.
The NIA said that the investigation had revealed a deep-rooted conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-based HM leadership and Pak ISI and an OGW network that facilitates the supply of funds and arms and ammunition to the HM militants in J&K.
Searches were also carried out at the premises of LoC traders – Peer Arshid Iqbal alias Ashu son of Pir Gayas-ud-Din resident of Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, currently lodged in Kathua jail, Jammu in a narcotics case.
Tariq Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh resident of Tawheed Gunj, Baramulla, Proprietor of M/s Sheikh Brothers and M/s Hamid Brothers, Baramulla, currently in Baramulla jail in a narcotics case.
Searches were also conducted at the houses of Bashir Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din resident of Khwajabagh, district Baramulla District level Hurriyat leader, Abdul Hamid Lone son of Abdul Razaq Lone resident of Gundpura, Sopore M/s Asha Traders, Wugub, Sopore, J&K.
The NIA said that searches have yielded several incriminating documents and digital devices.
