NIA raids in Kashmir regarding militancy case, one detained

Srinagar, Mar 14: The National Investigation Agency today carried out searches at several locations in Kashmir in a case related to militant conspiracy and detained one person.
An official said that the NIA raids were conducted at 6 locations in Kashmir.
He said the case was filed last year alleging criminal conspiracy for carrying out militant and subversive activities hatched by the cadres and OGWs of various proscribed organisations and their affiliates and off-shoots, operating under various pseudo names, at the behest of their Pakistani handlers.

The officials said the suspects are involved in carrying out attacks by using cyber-space in J&K, targeting of minorities, security personnel and spreading communal disharmony.
“Initial searches carried out last year had led to seizure of digital devices which were analysed forensically. Current searches are based on those leads,” he said.
Searches were underway at different locations in Srinagar, Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag and Shopian.
In Pulwama, the NIA team accompanied by CRPF and police raided the residence of Zeeshan son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat of Nillora and Arif Malik son of Ghulam Hassan Malik of Litter.
As per reports, they detained the son of Mohmmad Altaf Bhat of Nilora and he has been identified as Sartaj Bhat. Sartaj is also admin of a local social media news portal.
One more person was rounded up from 90 feet area of Soura in the morning raid. He was later let off after questioning. Another person was rounded up from Anantnag and he was also later let off.
