JAMMU, Apr 26: Executive Director (ED) of NHPC, Ram Swaroop today inaugurated Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar Library-cum-Computer Centre within the premises of Guru Ravidass Gurudwara, Krishna Nagar, Jammu.
Director KVIC Rajesh Kumar was the guest of honour, while Prof Sanjay Kumar Bhasin attended as special guest.
The centre has been set up to provide free library and computer facilities to poor and marginalised sections of society.
Speakers said the project was established with financial support provided under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Ram Swaroop said NHPC has always remained committed to welfare activities and is ready to support projects in the health and education sectors under CSR.
He appreciated the social work being carried out by the Sabha and said such efforts encouraged the organisation to extend assistance.
Rajesh Kumar said several schemes were available through KVIC for promoting self-employment and micro business ventures.
He urged people to avail the benefits of these schemes and assured hassle-free support to eligible applicants.
Prof Sanjay Kumar Bhasin said Buddha Ambedkar Jayanti would be celebrated on May 3 and a blood donation camp would be organised on the occasion. He added that free dispensary services would also be started.
President of the Sabha R C Bhasin thanked NHPC for financial assistance in establishing the centre and appreciated the support extended by KVIC and other contributors.
He also thanked the participants for their cooperation.
General Secretary Tarsem Loach conducted the proceedings, with large number of members of the Sabha and prominent citizens attending the function.
