NHM releases funds for 102 ambulance services

JAMMU, Mar 7: The National Health Mission (NHM) has implemented Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for payment to JSY beneficiaries to enable hassle free and early payment in favour of beneficiaries in their bank accounts.
Decision to this effect has been taken under the guidance of Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari and Director NHM Dr Mohan Singh.
The Mobile Health teams of the NHM have screened 15.75 lakh children under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK). Of them, 2.7 lakh children were found suffering from various ailments and 2.18 lakh were referred to various health institutions for treatment. About 300 children were provided financial assistance worth Rs 2 crores for their treatment at different hospitals including outside and within the State.
An official handout of the NHM said Thalassemia has been included under RBSK and financial assistance to 178 such cases has been recommended for their management. It added that under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts have been made on strengthening of six thematic areas in `Kayakalp’.
The handout said the NHM was making continuous efforts for timely uploading quality data of HMIS/MCTS portals. Over 25 percent increase has been reported in immunization data in Health Management and Information System and 77 per cent increase in mother registration on ‘Mother and Child Tracking System’.
About 50 Community Health Centre (CHCs) have got 3 plus Star Rating, which indicated significant improvement in terms of the parameters.
“Continued efforts are being place on training and capacity building of ASHAs and ASHA facilitators to involve community participation and ensure maximum services being provided under NHM,” the release said adding that 11,476 ASHAs and 789 ASHA facilitators have been trained by the Department.
Dr Bhandari will hold video conference with all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the districts of March 11 for periodic review of various health programmes.
The NHM has released funds for 102 ambulance services to the Directorate of Health Services to ensure that they function smoothly and drop-back facility to mother and child beneficiaries were expedited.
