JAMMU, Dec 6: National Health Mission Employees Association (NHMEA) today highlighted its burning demands and urged the J&K LG to fulfill them at the earliest.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rohit Seth, president of the Association, said that NHM employees are providing more than 75% of health services and working shoulder to shoulder with Health Department but their salaries are very less in comparison to Government employees. Alleging that NHM employees are being harassed for a long time by not giving them their due right, Rohit Seth demanded social security cover like New Pension Scheme and ESI facility for all the eligible employees working under NHM.
He further demanded that the salary of the agitation period which has not been released despite assurances given by the previous Governor of J&K state, be released and agreement arrived between NHM Employees’ Association and higher Government functionaries be implemented in letter and spirit.
Rohit urged the LG to ensure that salary and other benefits are given to employees of NHM of J&K at par with Union Territory (UT) of Delhi as J&K is also a UT now. He also demanded that salary of Data Entry Operators be given directly through NHM.
The Association president also stressed upon the LG to increase honorarium of ASHA workers at par with Anganwadi Workers as they are also performing the same nature of work.
Ashok Chaudhary (general secretary of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh), Subhash Verma (president BMS), Harbans Choudhary, Chuni Lal, Parvinder Kour, Kanta Devi, JB Sharma and many others were present in the press conference.
