UDHAMPUR, June 8: The traffic on busy Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended for over three hours after landslides near Samroli in Chenani area today.
Official sources said that due to road widening exercise, the big boulders from a hillock near Samroli started sliding down on the road at around 12.30 pm today. It blocked the road and the traffic on both the sides was suspended. However, there was no report regarding loss of life or injury to any one.
After this incident, the National Highway authorities mobilized men and machinery to the troubled site. The traffic on the highway could be restored at around 3.40 pm after road clearance, the sources added.
