NFB discusses issues with Lt Governor

JAMMU, Sept 18: National Federation of the Blind (NFB) J&K deputation led by its President Prof Kusum Lata Malik met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The deputation comprised of Mohinder Kumar Badyal Convenor, Nivedita Principal Louis Braille Memorial School for Sightless Girls Roop Nagar and Tarun Dev Singh.
While speaking, President discussed the issues specially the construction work of Jammu Municipal Corporation at the land lying vacant to the adjacent Louis Braille Memorial School for Sightless Girls Roop Nagar.
President Prof Kusum Lata Malik further said that the Federation approached JDA for allotment of the vacant land for expansion of the school and even the concession price on which the land was to be allotted was also worked out, but later JDA sent a letter stating that since HT power lines are passing through the said land, the same would be kept as a green area.
“The same land was allotted to JMC for constructing animal shed and the construction work was started on the site”, President added.
After listening to the issue, LG directed Vice Chairman JDA to take care of the matter seriously.
The other issue discussed were filling up of backlog of vacancies reserved for blind and other persons with disabilities.
The member of the delegation MK Badyal put forth the issue of blind youth, who had given Group-D examination conducted by JKSSB to safeguard their rights. He also demanded enhancement of the pension for unemployed blind fraternity.
NFB hoped that with the blessings of LG, the school will be expanded and upgraded after getting the vacant land.
