New YBO asks Govt to create facilities for donation of eyes

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 10: Reiterating its demand for creation of facilities for donation of eyes in the state, Ashok Verma chairman New Young Blood Organization (YBO) today said that despite repeated pleas no steps were taken by Government in this regard. In a statement issued here today he said thousands of blind people live in the state and with the creation of proper system for donation of eyes cheerfulness can be brought on their faces as these people will be able to see the outer world. Terming it a noble cause he said the Government should accede to the demand by creating the proper facilities in the state for donation of eyes. He said if people donate eyes after death, they can make others to see besides their eyes will also remain alive. Mr Verma said that his organization is working for over 15 years and organising camps for donating blood for needy people and now it has also started a campaign for donation of eyes. Mr Verma said the office bearers of the organisation Raj Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Ramesh Tak will visit different areas of Jammu to educate people about the benefits of donating eyes after death.
