KATRA, Dec 9: A new Sainik Aramghar, inbuilt with modern comforts and facilities, was opened today at Army Camp Katra.
Lieutenant General R R Nimbhorkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, White Knight Corps,   dedicated the Aramghar to “The Indomitable Spirit of the Jawans of the Indian Army”.  Alongwith his wife, he inaugurated the facility in presence of General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division alongwith other dignitaries from the Army.
The construction of Aramghar is a welfare measure initiated by the Army with an aim to improve upon the lodging facilities offered to the Yatris, especially the aged veterans and families of serving soldiers.  Army Camp Katra serves as the hub for Defence personnel who visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine on pilgrimage throughout the year.  It provides facilities to include reception, ticketing, guidance, guest room facilities and allied assistance so as to facilitate the visits of Defence personnel and their families and thereby make their visit comfortable.
The guest room complex, inaugurated by Lieutenant General Nimbhorkar, is inbuilt with comfortable features for both transit halts and night stay.  The new lodging facility is equipped with renovated guest rooms having televisions, drinking water facility, washrooms and renovated verandahs / staircase.  Beautification and upgradation of the entire complex has been carried out with adequate seating facility for the transient yatris.  Every year large number of Army personnel, both serving and retired, and their relatives visit Katra for Darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
