Srinagar, Aug 23: Nearly four months before Assembly elections, politics in Jammu and Kashmir took a new turn on Saturday as the new political party, “People’s Republican party” was formally launched here.
Soon after the launching ceremony, the senior member of the party Mohammad Amin Andrabi while addressing a press conference said, “Our main focus will be to make Jammu and Kashmir a corruption free State as we are ranking at the top of the list of corrupt States in the country. The party will also work towards the formation of a Rehabilitation Board for the victims of conflict over the past 24 years,” he said and added that the party may not contest the coming elections.
He further said, “There is a trust deficit among various regions of the state and rest of the country as well. We will work for constitution of a Reconciliation Commission for addressing these issues,” he added. The party comprises several Businessmen, Advocates who, according to the Andrabi have the mission to fight political corruption in the Jammu and Kashmir.
“Because of the corruption in the main political parties namely NC, PDP, Congress the overall developments in the state has become stand still. It is an alternative to the existing political system and we will work to end dynastic politics, favoritism and regionalism in politics and will strive for the development of the state,” he added.
