New land identified for Udhampur Polytechnic

SRINAGAR, June 30: Government today said new land measuring 36 kanals and 03 marlas have been identified for construction of Polytechnic College at Udhampur as the old identified land was not found feasible owing to its steep slopes.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta in Lower House, Minister incharge Technical Education and Youth services Department stated that a new land measuring 36 kanals and 03 marlas have been identified for construction of Polytechnic College situated at Chakka Tehsil/ District Udhampur and the Revenue papers have been authenticated and submitted to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur for its transfer to the technical education department.
As and when the final award is issued the construction of polytechnic will be started, he said. Earlier, a private land including 8 kanals of forest land was identified at Jaganoo Rakh for which Rs. 140 lakhs were released in favour of the collector land acquisition Udhampur as land compensation but later on the land was not found feasible, as it was having steep slopes which would have implications of higher development cost, the Minister stated.
The Minister further stated that the ITI Udhampur was not proposed to be selected a model ITI, as it was already covered under PPP mode scheme.
