New Excise policy will benefit weaker sections: SC ST Conference

JAMMU, Sept 1: SC ST Conference of Jammu today said that the new excise policy will be of great benefit for the weaker sections of the society.
Speaking in a meeting of the Conference held here today, Garuram, president of SC ST Conference of Jammu said that the new excise policy wherein reservations has been given to SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen and other weaker sections of society for obtaining retail liquor license is praiseworthy as it will given employment to weaker sections of the society.
Garuram also appreciated the new policy for lowering of rates of alcohol, stating that people were turning towards intoxicating drugs due to high cost of liquor. He said that the new excise policy will make the allocation process transparent and help in curbing the menace of drugs and illicit liquor.
Meanwhile, he appealed the Excise Commissioner to rationalize the liquor trade and break the monopoly of liquor mafia by making liquor available at all the liquor points. He said that the aggressive action should be taken to revive the sick licenses so they can provide more employment to the locals of Jammu.
Garuram further emphasized Excise Commissioner for providing equal opportunity to all the stakeholders by rationalizing the distribution and production system of liquor. He also urged the Excise Commissioner to give more concessions to Army.
Raju Kumar, Paramjeet, Chowdhary Sudesh, Surinder and Ajay Kumar were also present in the meeting.
