JAMMU, Feb 2: The Botany Department of the Central University of Jammu inaugurated a Botanical Society called ‘Euterria’.
Chief guests Prof Devanand and Prof Deepak Pathania presided over the function. Head of the Botany Department, Prof Brij Mohan Bhau gave inaugural remarks. Prof Sharma stressed on the need of such societies in the University to help it grow intellectually. Prof Pathania suggested mapping the local flora of Central University of Jammu. Prof Bhau advocated student activism in the field of Botany to create public awareness.
The inaugural program was organized by the faculty member, Dr Deepak Bhardwaj, with the help of colleagues Dr Samantha Vaishnavi, Dr Vikas Srivastava and Dr Deepak Kumar. Botany student, Jahnavi Ganotra, came up with the name ‘Euterria’, which means to be one with nature. She also designed the logo. The events concluded with an extempore quiz competition based on recent developments in the botanical sciences.
